Trio of Scandinavian art glass vases, Finland circa 1970’s

This is a Fantastic set of 3 Scandinavian art glass vases. The green and red pieces are attributed to Tamara Aladin for Riihimaki (Riihimaen Lasi Oy) Glassworks, Finland circa early 1970’s.

Stunning forms, the red vase is the ‘Tulppaani’ (Tulip) design, circa 1973, the coloured cased glass complements the minimal forms and subdued tones of the other two pieces beautifully.

Vintage red Hoptimist Bimble, designed by Hans Gustav Ehrenreich, Denmark circa 1969

This is a Great Vintage Original Hoptimist Bimble toy, designed by Hans Gustav Ehrenreich, Denmark circa 1969.

A Classic of Danish Modern design from the 1960’s, the Hoptimist range comprised of cute Space Age / Pop Art styled figures with round heads and springs for bodies. The Bimble Hoptimist has a bright red plastic head and minimal detailing just a round ball nose and painted graphic eyes, one winking. With its metal spring body and standing on elliptical metal feet it exemplifies pared down Danish Modern design.

Its name is suggestive of its spring form, which bobs and nods when moved and of the optimistic times of the late Sixties, it definitely has a sense of fun and a quirky nature.

An Iconic Nordic design that would look great on any desk or as a toy for kids or grown ups alike! Would make a great addition to any collection of Danish design and would complement any retro, vintage, mid century modern, minimal or contemporary interior.

In Great Condition still bobs away on its spring, some marks and wear to the paint, especially on the spring, could be repainted if wanted. There is a small hole in the top of the head that probably had an attachment originally, nothing to detract from the great vintage look!

Measures 13 x 9 x 9cm / 5.25 x 3.5 x 3.5in.

This is a Beautiful AVeM Murano (Arte Vetraria Muranese) red glass ‘Tutti Frutti’ small vase / bowl / toothpick holder, Venice, Italy circa 1950’s.

A Stunning piece that displays the master craftsmanship and artistry of Murano’s glassblowers.
The exquisite myriad of glasswork includes silver leaf, Zanfirico lattice filigree, twisted ribbon canes, and copper Aventurine. All set in a random form in clear glass, the inner being a rich red glass, which creates a lovely stunning background to the intricate craftsmanship.

Catches the light beautifully through the myriad techniques and colours, the undulating amorphous form looks different from every angle, beautifully curved and organic.

Would make a Fantastic addition to any collection of Murano, European Art glass, and would complement any retro, vintage, mid century, Hollywood regency, fifties, sixties, minimal or contemporary interior.

Aseda Glasbruk Ruby Red Blown Glass ‘Jack in the Pulpit’ / Bone vases, Sweden circa 1960’s

These are a Beautiful Pair of Aseda Glasbruk Swedish Art Glass ‘Jack in the Pulpit’ / Bone vases circa 1960’s.

A Stunning retro mid century design, the Elegant Organic form resembling the ‘Jack in the Pulpit’ hooded woodland flower.

The Ruby Red long slender stems flare out to the curved hooded rims, they sit on clear glass feet filled with ‘controlled bubbles’. The form and glassblowing techniques used are very similar to Whitefriars and Murano glass, which these are commonly mistaken for.

Great Vintage Scandinavian design, that is very reminiscent of styles of the era. The difference in height and shapes of the rims of the pair only adds to their organic natural freeform charm.

Would make a Fantastic addition to any collection of Scandinavian / European / Art Glass and would complement any retro, vintage, mid century, sixties, Nordic or contemporary interior.

In Great Condition, just the usual age related marks and small fleabites on the bases, nothing visible on display or to detract.

Measuring 18 x 5.5 x 5.5cm / 7 x 2.25 x 2.25in.

Cenedese, Murano Sommerso organic glass vase in red and yellow, designed by Antonio Da Ros, Venice, Italy circa 1960’s

This Cenedese single stem vase, encapsulates everything great about Murano art glass.  The beautiful organic shape with its contrasting sharp angled rim marks a clear break from tradition, embracing the space age futuristic styles of the 1960s.  The handmade blown glass is skillfully and amazingly layered using the Sommerso (submerged) technique, creating encased coloured capsules that need no other adornment.  It catches and refracts the light beautifully and becomes a sculptural piece of art in its own right.
