IMG_3322

IMG_3316This is a beautiful Studio Laurana Rame D’ Arte enamelled copper wall clock, made in Italy circa 1960’s.

A fantastic design from this ‘copper art’ studio founded by Franco Bastianelli in Pesaro, Italy in 1958.

Stunning Italian modernist / brutalist style very reminiscent of the work of Curtis Jere and Marcello Fantoni during the mid century era.

The clock face is made of copper, with indentations and holes roughly hewn around the rim, embellished with shimmering fiery multicoloured enamelled glazes. In the middle are raised glassy droplets to roughly mark the time.

Fitted with a very reliable German Kienzle movement and lovely period brass hands.

Would make a prefect addition for any mid century, modernist, brutalist, 1950’s, 1960’s, vintage, retro or contemporary interior as a practical piece of wall art!

In excellent condition, a little crazing to the thick enamel as is common with these pieces, nothing to detract on display. In fully working order, keeping good time, takes one size C. 1.5V battery not included.

Measures 30 x 30 x 5.5cm / 12 x 12 x 2.25in.

Hand signed to the back with the artists name (indistinct) and partially under the mechanism.

Malcolm Moran bronze figures / vignette, California, 1972

This is a beautiful whimsical vignette of two running and playing children, with flowers and teddy bear, in bronze by Californian artist and sculptor Malcolm Moran, 1972.

A wonderful piece by the highly collectable Malcolm Moran a mid century designer turned bronze sculptor who lived and worked in Carmel, California, and exhibited at the White House amongst many other achievements.

Large table cigarette lighter, Bitossi Ceramiche, Italy circa 1960’s

This is a beautiful and large table cigarette / cigar lighter by Bitossi Ceramiche, Italy circa 1960’s.

A fabulous piece designed by Aldo Londi, a striking style very different to the iconic ‘Rimini Blu’. This ‘Liberty’ decor was influenced by paisley patterns on imported Persian and Indian textiles.
This is in an unusual colourway similar to that used on the ‘Spagnolo’ decor, in yellow, orange, brown and green tones, representing the Spanish terrain.

The pattern is impressed into the surface, and the whole piece has the characteristic pitted texture from the inclusion of rough granules in the clay. Lovely form with the tapered waisted base and bulbous neck, with the brass lighter sitting in a well on the top.

A wonderful piece from one of the greatest designers and ceramicists of the 20th century that
would make a fantastic practical table lighter or display item, and would look great in any 60’s, retro, vintage, mid century modern, modernist, minimal or contemporary interior. A Great addition to any collection of Bitossi / Italian / European art pottery or 20th century design.

In excellent working condition, the mechanism still has a wick and the flint sparks, will need filling with lighter fluid. The pottery is excellent, free from chips or cracks, some light crazing commensurate with age, nothing to detract on display.

Measures 18 x 7 x 7cm / 7 x 2.75 x 2.75in.

Still bears the original makers and distributors labels on the base, ‘Made in Italy 69 / 10’ and ‘Created in Italy for Rosenthal Netter’.

A Fabulous Scandinavian collectable, the head removes to reveal a bottle opener, and the base comes off to reveal a corkscrew.
Great stylised design details, from the flat cap on his head, plastic bead eyes, a cigarette in his carved red painted beak / mouth. Lovely form to the body, wonderfully curved down to the gorgeous tail. The corkscrew doubles up as a stand and leg, sitting on the lozenge shaped teak foot.

Set of miniature ceramic liqueur bottles, Alpho Pottery, France circa 1930’s

These are a Beautiful trio of miniature ceramic liqueur bottles, made by the Alpho Pottery, France circa 1930’s.

A Wonderful set, owing much in its design to the Art Deco / art Nouveau period, when Alphonse Mouton started his studio. Born in 1900 into a family of potters, this prolific potter worked in Saint Vallier in the Drôme region in south west France from the 1930s to 80s. He produced mainly for the tourist market using a series of recognisable glazes in colours ranging from dark blues, greens and beige. He also produced some items for liqueur companies.

These are Great examples of his work, displaying characteristics of Art Deco in the angular handled bottle, Art Nouveau in the tall slender bottle, and playfulness in the teapot / watering can shaped piece.

All with variations on his characteristic glaze in a dripping / flamelike effect in shades of blue and green, with different textured glazes on each.

Perfect to add to any Alpho / French pottery / European studio pottery collection and would complement any Art Deco / Art Nouveau / 1930’s / 40’s, French style, rustic or contemporary styled interior.

All marked differently, one marked ’12 ALPHO’, another impressed mark ‘5’, and another unmarked other than the distributors stamp ‘Benoit Serres Toulouse’.

In Excellent Condition, no marks, chips or scratches or crazing, some wear to the labels commensurate with age, nothing to detract from the vintage look.

Measuring from largest: 10 x 9 x 2.5cm / 4 x 3.75 x 1in.
10.5 x 5 x 5cm / 4.25 x 2 x 2in.
10 x 8 x 4cm / 4 x 3.25 x 1.5in.
