Marcello Fantoni “Satiro innamorato” vase, Florence, Italy circa 1950s £600

This is a stunning and rare Marcello Fantoni vase, made in Florence, Italy circa 1950s.

So characteristic of his work, with a highly stylised sgraffito Cubist figure very similar to his iconic figure of a woman “Satiro innamorato” sculptures. With multicoloured glossy glazes against an earthy organic style base on an unusual gourd form, with a contrasting bright blue interior.

The vase has a handpainted mark to the base ‘Fantoni Italy, with the ‘Duomo’ symbol based on Florence’s Cathedral’s dome.

A great addition to any collection of Fantoni, Italian or European fine art ceramics or 20th century design. Would complement any retro, vintage, mid century, modernist, 1950s, 1960s, minimalist or contemporary interior.

Measures 17.5 x 11 x 6cm / 7 x 4.5 x 2.5in.

In excellent condition, no chips, cracks or crazing.

Marcello Fantoni was one of the greatest ceramicists and designers of the 20th century, his pieces were influenced by ancient Etruscan ceramics, and by contemporary modern artists of the mid century era. ‘Optimist & Pessimist’ Teak Trolls, Hans Bolling, Denmark circa 1960’s

These are a Great Pair of Danish Modern Teak trolls, attributed to Hans Bolling, Denmark circa 1960’s.

A Fantastic couple, comprising of miniature troll figurines the ‘Optimist’ and ‘Pessimist’. Both made out of teak, with rope arms and rabbit fur hair and painted eyes.

Stunning mid century Danish modern design classic, so reminiscent of the era, their small size would make them perfect to accessorise and add some fun character to a desk, mantelpiece or shelf.

Would make a Stunning addition to any Danish or Scandinavian Teak collection, and would complement any mid century modern, retro, vintage, 60’s, kitsch or contemporary interior.

In Excellent Condition, some thinning of the rabbit fur hair, nothing to detract on display.

Vintage handled vase / jug, made by Fratelli Fanciullacci, Italy circa 1950’s

This is a Beautiful pottery handled vase / jug, made by Fratelli Fanciullacci, Italy circa 1950’s.

A Stunning form and decor, the bulbous pitcher / jug shaped body is very classical, accentuated by the decorative forked handle and small spout.
The whole piece has been spray glazed in pink giving a fine rough texture, this is further embellished by raised motifs of a farm, farm workers and grapes and flowers. This is all contrasted by the base and inner glaze in a pastel blue.

Similar forms and decors can be seen in Mark Hill’s ‘Alla Moda’ Italian Ceramics book.

Would make a great addition to any collection of Italian, European or Mid Century pottery, and would complement any retro, vintage, 1950’s, 60’s, mid century, modernist, minimal or contemporary interior.

Handmarked to the base ‘Italy 2385’.

In Great Condition, a couple of chips to the spout (pictured), no other flaws, nothing to detract on display.

Rosewood effect clock, Bentima, England circa 1960’s

This is a great mantel / shelf or desk clock, made by Bentima, England circa 1960’s.

A Fantastic design, the clock sits on a brass base, and has a Rosewood effect Formica face with a brass dial under a glass cover, very reminiscent of the mid century 50’s / 60’s era. Lovely winged shape, and the classic clock face with Roman Numerals and ornate hands is very easy to read.

Would make a Great clock for use on a mantelpiece, shelf or desk, great vintage design to complement any retro, mid century, kitsch, 60’s, Mad Men styled interior.

Battery operated (not included) with a reliable quality German Quartz mechanism, keeps great time.

In Excellent Condition, a couple of miniscule light marks to the veneer, and a little tarnishing to the brass, nothing to detract on display.
